With plants galore and a host of green–thinking businesses displaying their wares, Nelson Growables 2013 attracted local families from all over the region.
For the fifth year in a row the Nelmac plant crèche provided a safe haven for precious plant purchases. With their ‘growables’ bagged and tagged, visitors were free to enjoy the displays, music, food and general fun of the fair.
Growables also offers locals an opportunity to learn from leading local authorities in the ‘green’ world. As part of the Weekend Gardener Seminar Series, Nelmac Nursery Manager Mike Gafa entertained a large crowd during his, highly anticipated and always well-attended, fair presentation. Finally, comment must be made of the best-dressed stallholder of the day. Completely without bias – this award must go to Neal Thompson (aka Mr Beefsteak) whose usual role is that of a highly knowledgeable Business Recycling Consultant on the Betta-Bins Refuse & Recycling team. In full tomato costume and make-up however, Neal manned the coolest (& juiciest) Betta-Bins Greenwaste stand ever. Thumbs up for Neal’s efforts and to all Nelmac staff who contributed on the day.
Congratulations also to Jo Reilly and her team for making Nelson Growables 2013 yet another fantastic day out for everyone.
