Betta-Bags now accepted at Nelson Transfer Station

Nelmac_Blue-bagsWith the closure of the Betta-Bag drop-off facility at Port Nelson due to health and safety requirements, (Blue) Betta-Bags are now able to be disposed of at the Nelson Transfer Station on Vivian Street at no additional cost to the customer.

With a significant rise in illegal dumping and hazardous waste at the previous facility, the Transfer Station option allows the company to continue to offer the service while still meeting acceptable standards around the health and safety of the public and of staff involved in the  disposal.  By far the majority of Betta-Bags are collected via the weekly street collections and this service is designed to cater for the very small amount of customers who cannot, whatever reason, place their bags at the kerbside.

Customers wishing to use the transfer station option need to go via the kiosk supervisor to record the quantity of Betta-Bags being dropped off before proceeding to the hopper.  The Nelson Transfer Station operates 7 days a week and is located on Vivian Place (off Pascoe Street).
